Quality Mechanical Inspector (Precision Machining)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour

Shift: First or Second Shift Available

Shift Schedule

First Shift: Monday-Thursday | 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Second Shift: Monday-Thursday | 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Mechanical Inspector with a strong background in precision machining to join our growing manufacturing team. This is not a general quality inspection role—we're looking for someone with hands‑on experience inspecting CNC machined components in a machine shop environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience performing first article, in-process, and final inspections
, operating and programming CMM equipment
, and interpreting complex engineering drawings with GD&T. This position plays a key role in ensuring precision‑machined parts consistently meet customer and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision‑machined components and assemblies
  • Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment including:
  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Bore gauges
  • Other precision inspection tools
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications
  • Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation
  • Assist with nonconformance investigations and corrective actions
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to improve first-pass yield and reduce defects
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of mechanical inspection experience in a precision machining or CNC manufacturing environment
  • Experience inspecting CNC machined components is required
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Hands‑on experience operating and programming CMM equipment
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work
Preferred Experience
  • Precision machining or aerospace manufacturing
  • Tight‑tolerance inspection
  • Root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • ISO or AS9100 manufacturing environments
  • $27.00-$35.00 per hour, depending on experience
  • Four‑day work week (Monday-Thursday)
