Staff Accountant

Ready to kick your career into high gear? Virginia Tire & Auto is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. We are looking for a knowledgeable accounting professional with experience in bank & general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate has experience using various accounting software’s such as Business Central and possesses knowledge of Microsoft’s suite of products including intermediate level excel skills.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the overall financial reporting for multiple retail operations. This role reports to the Controller. They are goal oriented, and deadline driven; consistently keeping daily weekly and monthly accounting timelines on schedule. They accomplish profitability by exercising attention to detail and following the proper processes and policies to maintain accurate financial reports. The Staff Accountant possesses strong communication skills to support an effective relationship between accounting and operations.

• Follow company processes, controls, and policies.
• Process daily merchant credit card payment batches
• Reconcile monthly bank reconciliations
• Reconcile general ledger accounts
• Assist with month end processing entries Required Education & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Prior accounting experience
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in a large accounting department
  • Strong organization skills. Ability to multi-task, meet firm deadlines, proactively prioritize needs, and effectively manage priorities for multiple businesses/subsidiaries on a concurrent basis.
  Preferred
  • Experience in automotive accounting
  • Experience with Net Suite or Business Central; ERP system is preferred
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience; bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation
  • Experience in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
