We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Nonprofit Senior Accountant to join our Outsourcing team. The Senior Accountant will work under the direction of our Outsourcing Partner & Director as the lead on multiple nonprofit clients. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, a deep understanding of nonprofit financial management, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a public accounting firm environment.

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for multiple organizations prepared by staff accountants, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, supporting audits, strengthening internal controls and month-end processes, and supervising accounting staff. This position is mostly remote but may require onsite visits to Rogers’ office or the client site as needed, therefore, you must live within the DC Metropolitan area.

Job Description:

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of multiple organizations’ accounting processes.
  • Respond to client emails within 24-48 hours.
  • Attend weekly and monthly financial review calls with clients virtually, and on-site as needed.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, various reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
  • Supervise, mentor and develop Staff Accountants and other accounting personnel.
  • Review work prepared by Staff Accountants to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Delegate assignments, set priorities, and monitor deadlines within the accounting team.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and track restricted and unrestricted funds, grants and donor contributions.
  • Assist with budget preparation, cash flow projections and income statement projections.
  • Assist with annual financial audit and 990 filings.
  • Understand and work with various accounting software.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Processing and reviewing 1099s.
  • Other accounting services as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience working with a public accounting firm.
  • A minimum of one (1) year's experience working with Quick Books Online.
  • Experience working with BILL preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills, be detail oriented, and have thorough documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with team members and clients.
  • Ability to give directions, work in a fast-paced environment with multiples clients, review work thoroughly and meet deadlines.
