About You
You're a hands-on construction leader who's comfortable managing work in the field, not just from behind a desk. You've worked on active job sites, coordinated subcontractors, and kept projects moving safely, on schedule, and to spec. You're detail-oriented, steady under pressure, and willing to step in to support field installations when needed.
About Us

We are growing our construction team and are looking for a Field Construction Manager to oversee day-to-day field execution across active solar projects.
This role partners closely with subcontractors, field crews, suppliers, and internal MEI teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and in compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all subcontractors to ensure timely completion, quality workmanship, and adherence to project plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets
* Direct and supervise field personnel, including daily scheduling of people, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers
* Read, interpret, and understand all project documentation, including insurance, permitting, project schedules, QA/QC requirements, blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, and assembly instructions
* Document delays and changes and complete RFIs on a daily basis
* Maintain and monitor quality standards throughout construction
* Perform mathematical computations as needed, including load calculations
* Coordinate meetings with, or contact, permitting, building, public works, fire, and police officials as required
* Assist in field installations when required
* Travel up to 75-100% as needed to support active construction sites (primarily VA, MD, PA, NY, MA)
What You Bring
Education & Core Experience
* 2-5 years of experience in a construction management or field-based role, ideally within solar or electrical infrastructure projects
* Hands-on experience working on 1MW+ solar projects, including rooftop and ground-mount installations
* Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors, subcontracts, and/or self-perform work in active construction environments
Technical & Domain Expertise
* Experience with electrical underground conduit and terminations
* Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and construction drawings
* Thorough understanding of contracts, project documentation, QA/QC requirements, and applicable regulations
* Knowledge of electrical codes (AC and DC), occupational hazards related to electrical work, and compliance with company safety policies and OSHA and/or MSHA standards
Interpersonal Skills & Work Style
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and coordinate field teams
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and team-building abilities
* Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable, with strong follow-through and accountability
* Ability to multitask, analyze issues, and make sound, timely decisions in fast-paced and high-pressure environments
* High degree of professionalism, strong work ethic, and a focused, motivated approach to work
Tools & Systems
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Physical Requirements
* Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of a job site in all types of weather, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
* Willingness and ability to work in environments with characteristic construction site hazards
Benefits
* PTO and company holidays
* Medical, dental, vision
* Employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance
* 401(k) and company match
* Professional development stipend
