TEGNA, the parent company of 64 television stations in 51 U.S. markets, is hiring anational/company-wide Photojournalist for a unique role in news. This broadcast journalism photojournalist will capture stories that highlight the best of the human spirit. These stories will air and stream nationally on TEGNA-owned TV stations and apps. The photojournalist will travel at least one week a month to different communities across the country with a partner who specializes in this kind of reporting.
The ideal applicant for this position is a master at capturing moments and a deeply empathetic, compassionate storyteller. We are searching for someone who wants to create memorable stories that attract and inspire audiences on every viewing platform.
Responsibilities- Produce original, enterprise video stories that captivate, evoke emotion and tell compelling stories.
- Travel approximately 25% to cover feature stories across the country
- Produce and edit videos in vertical and traditional horizontal formats.
- Use a variety of photography tools to tell great stories.
- Use Adobe Suite or Edius video editing software.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
- Ability to shoot and edit multiple cameras interviews.
- Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and pitch story ideas.
- Post videos to the website, You Tube and other social platforms.
- Write headlines, abstracts, or social media captions for videos.
- Drive and operate news gathering vehicles to and from various locations.
- Cover breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political news stories as needed.
- Perform other tasks as required.
- Reports to Corporate Director of Content, Enterprise.
- Associates/BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field. Related work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- 3-5 years of photojournalism experience
- Knowledge of non-linear editing systems, Adobe Suite or Edius experience a plus
- Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots.
- SNG experience a plus
- Live Center/ENG coordination experience a plus
- Skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and After Effects a plus
- Demonstrated news judgment with an understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
$43.27 — $48.08 USD
