Patent Agent and Technical Specialist

A law firm in Tysons Corner, VA, is seeking a Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to join their intellectual property team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics, combined with well-developed skills in patent application preparation and prosecution. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience and expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.

• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications, including the preparation of detailed claims and specifications.
• Handle all aspects of patent prosecution, including responding to office actions and managing the overall application process.
• Conduct in-depth technical analyses related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
• Perform prior art searches and provide opinions on patentability and strategic recommendations.
• Collaborate with inventors and clients to develop patent strategies and manage patent portfolios.
• Review technical documents and patent filings for accuracy and compliance.
• Provide technical and legal advice on intellectual property matters and patent-related issues.
• Prepare and present status reports and updates on patent applications and strategies to clients and internal teams.
• Stay current with developments in patent law and advancements in relevant technical fields.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
