Overview
We are seeking a Deputy Engineering Leader to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio‑visual, IT systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high‑growth markets.
ResponsibilitiesAn ideal candidate will have managed the technical aspects of the engineering, procurement, and construction for the delivery of electrical systems for mission critical facilities. They provide engineering leadership for the functional, physical, commissioning and project engineering disciplines, as well as being responsible for client ownership, engineering finances and engineering meetings. The Deputy Engineering Leader is responsible for supporting projects ranging from $50,000 to an excess of $20+ million, with square footage of 500,000 to 800,000, and 30‑400 people depending on a project’s stage.
This is a technical leadership role rather than management of personnel. A deputy engineering leader will be involved with security systems and ideally be an expert in industrialized construction processes.
- Leading complex technical discussions, projects, and/or programs.
- Validating world‑class technical solutions on projects.
- Ensuring engineering best practices are followed across multiple engineering and solution disciplines.
- Managing technical risk on a project.
- Providing oversight, direction, and technical expertise to engineering teams on a project.
- Leading an engineering discipline to develop new and upcoming engineers and technical experts.
- Preparing client‑specific solutions.
- Driving the development and maintenance of project artifacts that are required to ensure success for a project.
- Identifying, recommending, and implementing work process improvements.
- Reviewing technical project details with project leadership.
- Managing the integration of data from multiple company systems and analyzing the data to draw insights on project technical solutions.
- Ensuring safety regulations are adhered to and issues identified and resolved.
- Maintaining a positive, assertive relationship with project engineers to achieve project milestones and overall project success.
- Minimum 5+ years recent experience in the construction industry with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or 3+ years recent experience with a Master's Degree in Engineering.
- Strong engineering and administration experience with core platforms and services such as Access Control Systems (CCURE 9000, Lenel OnGuard, Honeywell Prowatch, AMAG) and Video Management Systems (Milestone XProtect, Genetec, Lenel).
- Experience with Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (Senstar, Southwest Microwave, Sight Logix) and other Electronic Security Systems (Zenitel, HID, WIDS).
- Familiarity with design/administration tools such as REVIT, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, ACC, Procore.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 11, networking, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Strong oral, written and presentation skills with experience communicating directly with executive leadership.
- Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams and excellent time‑management and organization skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio is a plus.
- Background in design and engineering of mission critical facilities; skill in calculations for electrical construction.
- Interest in modular builds for electrical construction.
- Experience as an onsite liaison overseeing installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical construction.
- Willingness to obtain a Professional Engineer license.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP, Navisworks, Bluebeam, ETAP/SKM, AGI
32, and other related software.
