Electrical Commissioning Field Engineer 3

We are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Field Engineer 3 to perform testing, startup, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems supporting critical infrastructure environments. This is a full-time position based in Northern Virginia.

The role involves working with breakers, transformers, switch gear, relays, motor control centers, and other electrical equipment in both field and manufacturing environments. Candidates will have the opportunity to support complex commissioning projects while contributing to the reliability and performance of mission‑critical electrical systems.

• Perform testing, startup, and commissioning activities for low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
• Support commissioning efforts involving breakers, transformers, switches, switch gear, relays, and motor control centers.
• Assist with the coordination and review of electrical project deliverables.
• Prepare and review electrical sketches, commissioning plans, and technical data sheets.
• Perform electrical calculations to support commissioning and startup activities.
• Review supplier documentation for compliance with project specifications and requirements.
• Identify potential installation and design issues through review of electrical, architectural, mechanical, and civil drawings.
• Utilize company standards, engineering guides, and commissioning procedures to ensure project quality and consistency.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of electrical system issues during startup and commissioning.
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment for team members and customers.
• Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as required to support project commissioning activities.

• High school diploma or GED with 10+ years of relevant electrical experience, OR
• Associate degree with 8+ years of relevant electrical experience, OR
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant electrical experience.
• Experience with electrical installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or startup activities across multiple systems.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, mechanical, and civil drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and commissioning practices.
• Familiarity with industry standards including NETA ATS/MTS, NEC, NFPA 70E, and related electrical safety requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in field and manufacturing environments.
• Willingness to travel as required from a Northern Virginia home base.

• OEM-certified field service training.
• NETA Level III or Level IV certification.
• Experience commissioning mission‑critical, industrial, utility, or data center electrical infrastructure.
• Experience working with medium-voltage electrical distribution systems.

• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
• Ability to sit for extended periods as required.
• Ability to reach, handle, and manipulate equipment and tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical information and documentation.
• Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and apply sound judgment to resolve problems.
