Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner to join their transportation team. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in traffic engineering and transportation planning while supporting project delivery, client relationships, and the continued growth of the transportation services portfolio.
This position will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and report to the Director of Transportation.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or a related field
- 3-6 years of progressive experience in Traffic Engineering and/or Transportation Planning
- Proficiency with:
- Synchro / Sim Traffic
- HCS
- SIDRA
- VISSIM
- Advanced proficiency with:
- AutoCAD
- Auto Turn
- ArcGIS
- Strong knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
- Strong knowledge of traffic signal design
- Strong knowledge of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans
- Developing client relationship and account-management skills
- Experience managing project budgets and schedules
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to develop innovative transportation solutions
- AICP certification or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred
- Conduct transportation studies and traffic impact analyses
- Support traffic data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Assist with project team management and provide technical project support
- Develop intersection capacity analyses
- Develop traffic signal timing plans
- Assist with geometric design
- Participate in parking demand studies
- Support multimodal transportation assessments
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies
- Attend client meetings and assist with project presentations
- Support and mentor junior staff
- Contribute to business development initiatives
- $90,000-$100,000 anticipated salary range

The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of hands-on traffic engineering and/or transportation planning experience
, strong proficiency with traffic analysis software, and practical experience with traffic impact studies, intersection analysis, signal timing, MOT plans, and transportation design. Candidates with an AICP certification or P.E. license will be especially competitive.
