Technical Accounting Senior Manager

Overview

Strategy (MSTR) is seeking a Technical Accounting Senior Manager to support one of the most dynamic and innovative finance functions in the market. This role sits at the intersection of the Company’s Bitcoin treasury strategy, capital markets execution, and SEC reporting, requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to operate in a fast‑paced, high‑stakes environment.

You will play a key role in evaluating complex transactions, supporting external reporting, and helping scale the accounting and control infrastructure as the company continues to evolve its Bitcoin‑centric financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting & Policy

  • Lead technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions, including digital assets (Bitcoin treasury activities), debt and equity capital market activity (convertible debt, preferred stock, ATM programs), strategic transactions and new business initiatives.
  • Draft and maintain accounting position papers and memos in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance.
  • Partner with auditors to support accounting conclusions and resolve technical matters.

SEC Reporting & Disclosures

  • Support preparation and review of SEC filings (10‑K, 10‑Q, 8‑K, prospectus supplements).
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statement disclosures, including emerging areas such as crypto accounting.
  • Collaborate with legal, FP&A, and investor relations on disclosure matters.

Capital Markets & Strategic Transactions

  • Provide accounting support for capital markets activity, including equity and preferred stock issuances, ATM programs and shelf registrations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors on comfort letters, consents, and transaction execution.
  • Evaluate accounting implications of new structures and financing strategies.
  • Partner closely with external auditors on technical positions and emerging accounting topics.

Internal Controls & SOX

  • Assess and document internal control implications of new and complex transactions.
  • Partner with Internal Audit and external auditors to support SOX 404 compliance.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are designed and operating effectively, particularly in evolving areas such as digital assets.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Treasury, Legal, Tax, IT and Finance teams to drive alignment on accounting and reporting outcomes.
  • Support system implementations (e.g., ERP, crypto subledger tools) from an accounting and controls perspective.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance scalability, efficiency, and control.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in technical accounting and SEC reporting (Big 4 + public company preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with complex transactions (debt, equity, capital markets) required.
  • Exposure to digital assets / crypto accounting is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment with tight deadlines.

Key Attributes

  • Strong technical accounting judgment in ambiguous and evolving areas.
  • Ability to execute under tight timelines with multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Effective communicator with auditors and senior stakeholders.
  • High ownership mindset and attention to detail.

Why This Role

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of digital asset accounting and innovative capital markets activity, supporting a company with a unique and evolving financial strategy.
