Overview
LMI is seeking a skilled Policy Specialist at a consultant level to support the United States Postal Service (USPS). The Policy Specialist will be part of an LMI team who will assess, adjudicate, and update/redraft USPS policies to eliminate unnecessary policies and streamline operations. The Policy Specialist will interface with the owner of policies (clients) and will provide recommendations to update policy and process, which includes, but is not limited to separation of policy and process, language that will clarify policy content, subject matter recommendations to improve USPS business, methods for improving policy management, ways to address gaps and risks in the policy/process, and content for elimination.
The Policy Specialist will assist the Task Lead in monitoring risks, coordinating document progression, scheduling, data review as well as meeting planning and coordination in a virtual environment with USPS stakeholders. Work will include methods for improving the policy management processes. A successful Policy Specialist will be able to act as the right hand of the assigned Task Lead in facilitating team activities, shepherding forward excellent products, maintaining deadlines and requirements, and delivering high-quality outputs to the client.
- Support the development and writing of policies and policy-related materials (guidance documents, standard operating procedures, etc.) to direct work processes
- Consult closely with policy owners, stakeholders, legal experts, and labor relations specialists to draft and edit policy language
- Facilitate productive and collegial client interactions in working group meetings and through individual communication channels
- Support the assigned task lead with coordination, scheduling, and administrative duties
- Support and communicate the development of policy deliverables for USPS review
- Help the LMI team deliver excellence, including reaching program milestone achievements and assessing customer feedback
- Support the assigned task lead with building and maintaining trusted partner relationships with USPS customer leadership
- Coordinate and support engagement with USPS stakeholders, including steering committees and working groups, to develop roles, responsibilities, and an implementation plan for execution of work
- Track task progress and ensure compliance with implementation plan and stakeholder expectations
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a policy, management, business, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years consulting experience
- Minimum of 5 years supporting operations for a government agency
- Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a “client first” attitude
- Strong organizational skills and an understanding of project management best practices
- Ability to balance competing priorities and exhibit flexibility based on changing client need
Target salary range: $80,000-$130,000
