Business Analyst – Shipyard Modernization (U.S. Navy)

LMI is seeking a Business Analyst to support U.S. Navy shipyard modernization initiatives. The role focuses on improving logistics, asset tracking, and operational workflows using technology solutions across NAVSUP, NAVSEA, and shipyard operations.
This position bridges mission users, logistics stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure solutions align with architecture, human-centered design, and modernization goals.
Requirements & Product DeliveryIdentify, evaluate, and implement new systems or enhancements to existing systems.
Lead requirements lifecycle activities including discovery, prioritization, epics, features, and user stories.
Facilitate backlog definition and ensure user perspective is incorporated.
Translate complex business processes into actionable requirements and acceptance criteria.
Act as liaison between software teams, logistics/warehouse SMEs, and technical leadership.
Maintain stakeholder relationship register and manage expectations.
Conduct discovery research and serve as functional subject matter expert.
Document concepts of operation, workflow diagrams, business rules, story maps, and process roadmaps.
Support usability, user experience, adoption, and engagement improvements.
Define and monitor KPIs and metrics for system delivery and business outcomes.
Provide data analysis to measure progress against objectives and key results.
Support integration of complex enterprise systems and modernization initiatives.
Evaluate and design future-state (“to-be”) processes and reengineering opportunities.
10+ years of experience in IT, business analysis, system engineering, or requirements management.
Experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or requirements lead.
Strong analytical and system-thinking skills.
Experience working on systems integration projects (hardware + software).
Experience documenting requirements artifacts (journey maps, data flow diagrams, interface diagrams, etc.).
Experience with Agile frameworks and requirements management tools.
Experience in business process improvement and reengineering.
Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Experience supporting Navy logistics, asset management, or inventory systems.
Experience with RFID asset tracking technology.
Understanding of military logistics and warehouse operations.
Experience integrating COTS solutions into enterprise systems.
Experience supporting cloud migration or technical stack modernization.
Familiarity with Git Lab and Scaled Agile (SAFe).
Business analysis or Agile certifications (CCBA, Agile Product Owner, SAFe, HCD).
This role directly contributes to large-scale Navy modernization efforts by improving asset tracking, logistics visibility, and system usability across shipyards.
Compensation NoteThe listed salary range ($84,000 – $130,000) represents a typical range and may vary based on experience, education, clearance level, and contract requirements.
