Systems Engineer

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise financial and lending systems, supporting mission‑critical environments. Provide technical leadership across application development, production support, and system integration efforts. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex production issues, including application, server, network, and security‑related challenges. Collaborate with system administrators to support infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and platform enhancements while minimizing operational impact.
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise web applications and services using technologies such as Java, SQL, JavaScript, and Cold Fusion. Develop and support API integrations using REST/SOAP services and enterprise tools. Work closely with stakeholders, product owners, and Agile teams to gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions. Drive process improvements aligned with best practices and ensure compliance with development lifecycle and federal standards.
Support database design, development, and administration across multiple platforms. Provide production support leadership, ensuring system reliability, performance, and availability. Mentor team members and provide technical guidance to developers, engineers, and support staff.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT systems, software development, or enterprise applications. Bachelor’s degree (or four additional years of experience in lieu of a degree). Strong experience supporting financial systems, lending platforms, or government‑regulated systems. Proven expertise in production support, troubleshooting, and resolving complex system issues across multiple technology layers. Hands‑on development experience in Java, SQL, JavaScript, Cold Fusion or comparable technologies;
web services (REST/SOAP) and enterprise integration. Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Tomcat, JBoss, Web Logic, EAServer, Windows Server, Linux, and Unix. Strong understanding of system architecture, data flow, and enterprise integration patterns. Experience in Agile or sprint‑based development environments. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents and must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “PUBLIC TRUST” prior to onboarding.
Candidates with an active PUBLIC TRUST or suitability are preferred.
Experience supporting federal agencies or working within regulated environments (e.g., SBA programs, GPEA compliance). Familiarity with Business Process Management (BPM) tools such as Metastorm e‑Works. Experience with geospatial tools and services (e.g., ESRI, geocoding solutions). Background in financial modeling, accounting systems, or subsidy rate calculations. Exposure to cloud or hybrid environments (e.g., AWS/Azure integrations). Experience modernizing legacy systems and implementing digital transformation initiatives.
Certifications or credentials such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Project Management training, or similar.
