Location: Ospringe

The Playgroup Practitioner will work as part of a team with the Playgroup Manager and Deputy Manager to run the day-to-day activities of the Playgroup setting. They will provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children aged 2-4 year with different levels of need. You will be required to work as part of a team and use your own initiative to provide a safe and enabling environment in which all children can play, develop and learn.,

you will have knowledge and understanding of the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory guidance.

The playgroup practitioner will promote learning and development of children both inside and outside and are expected to offer these experiences in all weathers and in all seasons seeing nature as an opportunity for learning. The Practitioner role will promote the aims and objectives of the Playgroup and develop strong relationships with parents/ carers to ensure the needs of every child are met.

As a key person whilst providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care which will include changing nappies etc, assess children's level of development and providing next steps for their learning to ensure that good progress is being made across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, you will need to be able to assess where children started, what they have achieved, what you want them to learn next and how this will be achieved.

You will be expected to hold meetings with parents to discuss children’s development, report any concerns to the setting SENDCo and/or manager.

Whilst children attend the setting they will learn from observing others and it is important that we all model British values and the behaviours we wish children to develop including, being kind, respectful, following the rules, listening to each other and showing children you are interested in what they are doing and saying.

You will be expected to have a good level of English to ensure records are properly maintained, such as: accident & incident report and Learning Journals. You will be expected to keep your own knowledge and skills up to date especially with regard to safeguarding and carrying out further training as necessary within your role, training is online and generally completed outside of working hours but is paid for.

You will need to be available between 8: 30am - 4pm

This job role requires you to have an enhanced DBS check completed and satisfactory references in place prior to starting any offer of employment. You will also be required to subscribe to the DBS update service for the duration of your employment.
