Children’s Residential Support Workers Help Us Build Something Special
Milford Del Support Services has recently achieved Ofsted registration and is preparing to open two new children’s homes on the Isle of Wight.
We are now recruiting dedicated, compassionate and resilient Support Workers to join our new teams and help us create safe, stable and nurturing homes where children and young people can feel secure, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our children’s services from the very beginning. You will help shape the culture of our new homes and provide high-quality, child-centred and trauma-informed care to children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural and developmental needs.
About the RoleAs a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will provide consistent and supportive care in accordance with each child’s care plan, placement plan and risk assessments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing safe, nurturing and structured care
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Supporting children with their daily routines, emotional wellbeing and personal development
- Helping children develop independence, confidence and practical life skills
- Building positive, trusting and professional relationships
- Supporting children to access education, health appointments and activities
- Following behaviour support plans and using approved therapeutic approaches
- Responding calmly and appropriately when children experience distress
- Maintaining clear, accurate and timely records
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers, social workers and other professionals
- Contributing to a positive, stable and welcoming home environment
- Working in accordance with safeguarding legislation, Ofsted regulations and Milford Del Support Services’ policies and procedures
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of one year’s experience supporting children or young people, either professionally or through relevant personal experience
- Previous experience in a care or support role
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- The ability to build positive and appropriate relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries
- Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to maintain accurate and professional records
- The ability to follow care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments
- A reliable, professional and committed approach
- A willingness to complete all mandatory and regulatory training
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience working in an Ofsted-regulated children’s residential setting
- Experience supporting children with complex emotional or behavioural needs
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or a willingness to work towards the qualification
- Full-time, permanent employment
