Bank Catering Assistant

Job Responsibilities

The Catering Assistant will support the Cook in providing safe, high-quality meals to patients and visitors, ensuring the kitchen and dining areas meet the highest cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with meal preparation – vegetables, salads, sandwiches and simple finger foods.
• Participating in patient meal service, ensuring correct portion sizes, accurate meals and special dietary requests.
• Performing general cleaning of floors, walls, work surfaces and equipment according to agreed cleaning schedules, following colour‑coding systems.
• Receiving and checking deliveries of food and cleaning materials, storing items safely in line with operational policies.
• Maintaining hygiene standards by adhering to Food Safety Regulations, Food Hygiene Regulations and the Catering and Nutritional Policy.

• Literate and numerate.
• Basic Health & Safety, COSHH, moving and handling knowledge (on the job training).
• Food safety level 2 or equivalent.
• Good level of general education.
• NVQ Level 2.
• Welsh language speaker welcome; the Health Board offers support to meet minimal Welsh Language requirements.
• Experience working in hospitality or kitchen environment.
• Experience dealing with the general public.
• Experience in a large‑scale kitchen environment.

Salary: £26,300 a year (pro rata if part time).
