Lab Technician I Grantham I 30k I Permanent I MUST Drive and have own vehicle

Are you looking to build your career in a laboratory environment while contributing to the renewable energy sector? We're recruiting for a Lab Technician to join a growing team based in Grantham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a scientific background who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, has a keen eye for detail, and is happy to travel to sites when required.

Working closely with the Laboratory Manager, you'll support the day-to-day running of the laboratory, carry out sample analysis, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure accurate recording of results. During peak harvest periods, you'll also visit operational sites to collect samples, making a full UK driving licence essential.

The Role

As a Lab Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting laboratory operations by delivering accurate analysis, maintaining high standards of quality, and ensuring laboratory equipment is calibrated and operating effectively. You'll work as part of a collaborative team while following established laboratory procedures and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out laboratory analysis of samples safely, accurately, and within required timescales.

  • Record and maintain laboratory results using internal databases and spreadsheets.

  • Assist with the day-to-day operation and organisation of the laboratory.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and perform routine checks on laboratory equipment.

  • Support stock control of laboratory consumables.

  • Assist with updating laboratory documentation, including SOPs and risk assessments.

  • Travel to operational sites during harvest periods to collect samples.

  • Report any equipment issues, near misses, or laboratory concerns to the Laboratory Manager.

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised laboratory environment.

About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and passionate about science. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.

You'll ideally have:

  • A degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.

  • Laboratory experience gained through education or previous employment.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • Confidence using spreadsheets and recording accurate data.

  • A genuine interest in environmental science and laboratory processes.

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK when required.

  • You must have the right to work in the UK without requiring visa sponsorship, either now or at any point in the future.
