Location: Bentley

Prepare samples for chemical analysis

  • Assist with laboratory testing procedures
  • Operate analytical equipment under supervision
  • Record and interpret test data
  • Maintain laboratory documentation and records
  • Follow quality assurance procedures
  • Assist with sample receipt and tracking
  • Support equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Learn laboratory best practices and testing standards
  • Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment
  • Follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures

As your skills develop, you'll gain exposure to specialist testing techniques used across environmental and industrial sectors.

Interest in Chemistry and Laboratory Science

Entry Requirements:
  • GCSE Maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above preferred)
  • Chemistry qualification desirable but not essential
  • No previous laboratory experience required
Training & Development

You will complete a:

Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

Developing skills in:
  • Analytical Testing
  • Sample Preparation
  • Laboratory Quality Systems
  • Scientific Data Recording
  • Health & Safety
  • Laboratory Equipment Operation, GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.
Personal Qualities
  • Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule
  • Writing and numeracy skills
  • Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills
  • Word, Excel, Access - statistics, graphs, data analysis
  • General awareness of importance of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.
