Prepare samples for chemical analysis
- Assist with laboratory testing procedures
- Operate analytical equipment under supervision
- Record and interpret test data
- Maintain laboratory documentation and records
- Follow quality assurance procedures
- Assist with sample receipt and tracking
- Support equipment calibration and maintenance
- Learn laboratory best practices and testing standards
- Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment
- Follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures
As your skills develop, you'll gain exposure to specialist testing techniques used across environmental and industrial sectors.
Interest in Chemistry and Laboratory Science- Strong attention to detail

- Enthusiasm to learn and develop
- GCSE Maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above preferred)
- Chemistry qualification desirable but not essential
- No previous laboratory experience required
You will complete a:
Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship
Developing skills in:- Analytical Testing
- Sample Preparation
- Laboratory Quality Systems
- Scientific Data Recording
- Health & Safety
- Laboratory Equipment Operation, GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.
- Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule
- Writing and numeracy skills
- Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills
- Word, Excel, Access - statistics, graphs, data analysis
- General awareness of importance of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.
