Multi Skilled Operative
Contract:
Full-time permanent. Salary up to £36,425.30 per annum, plus company van & fuel card. 42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday-Friday).

We’re looking for a versatile Multi-skilled Operative to support a busy responsive repairs contract in Margate. This dynamic, hands‑on role involves delivering high‑quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades to ensure residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well‑cared for.
Duties- Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across social housing properties.
- Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames.
- Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors.
- Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges.
- Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks.
- Carry out repairs and minor replacements to uPVC components, including windows, doors, frames, locks, handles, hinges, and adjust openings for proper operation.
- Patch plastering and repair damaged walls or ceilings.
- Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing.
- Paint and decorate to a professional finish after repair works.
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Work in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy.
- Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota as required.
- Report any further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope.
- Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents’ homes.
- Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order.
- Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets.
- Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g., UPVC, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Provide own hand and power tools.
- Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work.
- Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours emergency rota.
