Job OverviewPermanent Electrician position in HMP Featherstone. This role involves delivering critical facilities management services to support secure prison operations across the UK.
Working Hours39 hours per week on a rota basis from 07.45am – 16.45pm. The schedule includes working one weekend in four on a rota basis, with an additional 15% allowance of basic salary.
Base Salary£30,866 – £36,135, dependent on experience.
Responsibilities- Planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including relevant administrative duties.
- Actively fault finding and problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
- Carry out like‑for‑like replacements and other electrical minor works, ensuring inspections and tests are carried out and recorded in accordance with BS7671.
- Ensure all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively to support a secure environment for staff and residents.
- Assist the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when requested.
- Implement and follow Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work across all relevant work streams.
- Assist with escorting duties and other required tasks.
- City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
- BS7671 18th Edition; 17th Edition considered with upskilling to 18th Edition.
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
- Experience with planned and preventative maintenance operations.
- Excellent organisational, time‑management, and people skills.
- Experience working under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work at heights, independently, and use initiative.
- Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (desirable).
- Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Basic IT skills.
- Prison Security Clearance required (Amey will support the clearance process).
