Maintenance Operative

Location: Coventry

Job Type: Temporary (6 Weeks Cover)

Hours: Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

Pay Rate: 14.00 - 16.00 per hour (depending on experience)

We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Maintenance Operative to provide temporary cover for a 6-week period in Coventry. This is a hands-on role suited to an individual with strong handyman skills and a practical approach to general maintenance tasks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a variety of repairs, maintenance duties, and general upkeep to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and well-presented.

• Carry out general handyman and maintenance tasks across the site.
• Complete basic plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing taps, and unblocking drains.
• Undertake basic electrical work such as replacing light fittings, bulbs, switches, and carrying out minor electrical repairs (within competency).
• Perform painting and decorating duties, including touch-ups and refurbishment work.
• Assemble, repair, and maintain furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and repairs.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
• Support with general site upkeep and other ad-hoc maintenance duties as required.

• Previous experience in a Maintenance Operative, Handyman, Caretaker, Facilities Maintenance, or similar role.
• Good all-round maintenance skills with knowledge of:
  • Basic Electrical Work
  • Basic Plumbing
  • Painting & Decorating
  • General Repairs and Building Maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to start immediately.

• Competitive hourly rate of 14.00 - 16.00 per hour depending on experience.
• Full-time hours (40 hours per week).
• Immediate start available.
