Build Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Carpenter to join an established reactive maintenance team, carrying out repairs and maintenance across social housing and council properties throughout North West London.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Carpenter looking for long-term job security, a permanent contract, company van, fuel card and plenty of overtime and call-out opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing a wide range of carpentry repairs and maintenance works within occupied properties, working directly in tenants' homes and delivering a high standard of workmanship and customer service.

  • Occasional Islington

The role offers a local patch, helping to keep travelling manageable while providing consistent work across the area.

The Role Carpenter

You will be responsible for carrying out responsive repairs and day-to-day maintenance within occupied social housing and council properties.

The role will involve diagnosing repair requirements, completing work efficiently and aiming for first-time fixes wherever possible.

Your day-to-day duties will include:
  • Carrying out all aspects of carpentry repairs and maintenance
  • Hanging and adjusting internal and external doors
  • Repairing and replacing door frames and linings
  • Fitting and repairing skirting boards and architraves
  • Carrying out kitchen repairs and installations
  • Repairing kitchen units, doors, worktops and associated carpentry
  • Carrying out flooring and general joinery repairs
  • Completing fencing and external carpentry works
  • Repairing timber structures and general woodwork
  • Completing responsive repairs within occupied properties
  • Diagnosing faults and identifying suitable repair solutions
  • Carrying out first-time fixes wherever possible
  • Completing jobs within required response times
  • Working safely and efficiently within residents' homes
  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy
  • Providing excellent customer service to tenants and residents
  • Updating job information and completing paperwork/PDA records where required
  • Working independently while maintaining communication with the wider team
Social Housing Experience

Previous experience working within social housing, housing associations, council properties, local authority maintenance or domestic property repairs would be highly desirable.

You should be comfortable working in occupied homes and understand the importance of:

Clean and tidy working practices
Completing repairs correctly first time
Working safely and efficiently

  • Good knowledge of reactive maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose problems and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • A professional and reliable approach
  • Full UK Driving Licence essential
  • Own tools desirable
Qualifications

NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in Carpentry & Joinery would be advantageous, although candidates with strong relevant practical experience will also be considered.
