About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled and reliable HGV Mechanic to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing heavy goods vehicles to ensure they are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGVs
- Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment
- Conduct inspections in line with DVSA standards
- Prepare vehicles for MOT testing
- Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently
- Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic/Technician
- Relevant qualifications desireable, not essential. (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance)
- Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
- Knowledge of vehicle safety standards and regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)

HGV Mechanic Purpose of Role:
To ensure all heavy goods vehicles are maintained and repaired to the highest standard, minimising downtime and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
- Repair or replace defective parts (e.g. brakes, engines, transmissions)
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively
- Carry out safety inspections and checks
- Maintain accurate service records
- Adhere to health and safety policies at all times
- Strong mechanical knowledge of HGV systems
- Experience with diagnostics and fault finding
- Good attention to detail
- Time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure
