Multiskilled HGV Technician

Location: Manchester
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Overtime:
  • 1.5x hourly rate Monday to Saturday
  • 2x hourly rate Sundays and Bank Holidays
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am 5:00pm (1-hour lunch)

We are recruiting a Multiskilled HGV Technician to join a growing environmental services team based in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with HGV driving experience who wants a long-term career within environmental services, remediation, industrial cleaning, groundworks and infrastructure projects.
As a Multiskilled HGV Technician, you will combine HGV driving with practical site-based work, supporting environmental clean-ups, spill response activities, tank and interceptor installations, drainage works, industrial cleaning projects and remediation schemes.
No two days are the same, and full specialist training will be provided to help you develop into a highly skilled environmental services professional.



Key Responsibilities :

HGV Driving & Transport Operations
  • Operate company vehicles including HGV Class 2 tankers and specialist operational vehicles
  • Complete daily vehicle inspections and defect reporting
  • Ensure vehicles remain compliant, safe and roadworthy
  • Transport equipment, plant and materials to operational sites
  • Comply with drivers' hours regulations and transport legislation
Environmental & Industrial Services
  • Carry out high-pressure water jetting activities
  • Support environmental incident response and spill remediation works
  • Assist with industrial cleaning projects
  • Support tank and interceptor installation, maintenance and removal works
  • Carry out environmental clean-up and remediation activities
  • Assist with drainage and infrastructure projects
Groundworks & Site Support
  • Support excavation, reinstatement and groundwork activities
  • Assist with tank uplift and removal projects
  • Operate specialist plant and equipment where trained
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary site teams to deliver projects safely and efficiently
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow RAMS, safe systems of work and company procedures
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses
  • Use PPE correctly and promote a strong safety culture
Customer Service & Teamwork
  • Communicate professionally with customers and stakeholders
  • Complete all operational documentation accurately
  • Support colleagues to ensure successful project delivery
  • Travel and work away from home where required
Essential Criteria:
  • HGV Class 2 Licence
  • Experience with in a practical, hands-on working environment
  • Knowledge of vehicle checks, compliance and defect reporting
  • Good understanding of RAMS and safe systems of work
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to undertake manual duties
  • Flexible approach to overtime and travel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable Criteria:
  • ADR Licence
  • Tanker driving experience
  • Groundworks experience
  • Remediation experience
  • Industrial cleaning experience
  • Plant operation experience
  • Environmental services experience
  • Utilities, civils or construction background
Additional Information:
  • Based from the Manchester depot
  • UK-wide travel may be required depending on projects
  • Overnight stays may occasionally be required
  • Participation in emergency response and call-out activities may be required
  • Full training provided for successful candidates with the right attitude and transferable skills
