Build Recruitment are looking for an emergency light technician to join a leading Facilities Services provider based in Central Birmingham.

with additional opportunities for overtime. There is also an optional out-of-hours call rota, providing the chance to further enhance your overall earnings.

The purpose of this role is to carry out inspection, testing, maintenance, fault finding, repair, installation, and certification of emergency lighting systems across client sites, ensuring compliance with current legislation, British Standards, and client requirements.

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory testing of emergency lighting systems in accordance with BS 5266 and site-specific requirements.
  • Conduct monthly functional tests and annual full-duration discharge tests on emergency lighting systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on emergency lighting systems, emergency luminaires, exit signage, central battery systems, and associated controls.
  • Replace defective lamps, batteries, LED drivers, fittings, and controls as required.
  • Complete emergency lighting installations, upgrades, modifications, and remedial works.
  • Identify and report system defects, non-compliance issues, and fire safety risks to supervisors and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, test results, remedial actions, and asset information.
  • Liaise with clients, site representatives, and subcontractors to coordinate works and minimise disruption.

Requirements -

  • NVQ Level 3 / equivalent
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition
  • Inspection and Testing 2391 (desirable)
