Land Surveyor; Party Chief

Salary Range: $79,400.00 To $ Annually

Wage range, depending on licensure status and experience:

• LSIT $38 ($79,400 annual) to $45 ($93,600 annual)
• PLS $45 ($93,600 annual) to $55 ($114,400 annual)

LACO is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief in the Ukiah office to lead field survey crews on a variety of projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and control surveys. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, and capable of producing accurate field data while maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and project staff.

• Lead field survey crew in daily operations.
• Perform boundary, topographic, construction staking, and control surveys.
• Read and interpret maps, plans, plats, legal descriptions, and construction documents.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment, including total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, data collectors, and levels.
• Complete accurate field notes, sketches, calculations, and data uploads.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients as needed.
• Ensure safe work practices and maintain company equipment and vehicles.

• Previous experience as a Survey Party Chief or field crew leader 3+ years preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surveying principles, field procedures, and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage field crews efficiently.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.
