Part-Time Faculty - Licensed Vocational Nursing Program

DESCRIPTION

Mendocino College is currently accepting applications for Part-Time Faculty in the Licensed Vocational Nursing Program. This position reports to the Director of the Licensed Vocational Nursing Program, the Dean of Career Education and the Assistant Dean of Health Careers.

ASSIGNMENT/SALARY

Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly contract basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment. Salary is determined by the total contract hours. Hourly contract rate is dependent on qualifications ($68.11 - $95.42). Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the semester.

Sick leave is earned based on teaching load percentage.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The successful candidate will support student success by providing instructional support and institutional collaboration. This includes the following duties and/or assignments:

TEACHING:

* Instructs in a full range of courses in the Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program;

* Educates in varied environments including the skills lab, clinical setting, online (using Canvas), and/or lecture;

* Conducts classes and finals as included in the schedule of classes;

* Prepares classroom presentations, student activities, and assignments;

* Teaches class hours; works with the LVN Program Director to evaluate students' performance based on quizzes, exams, projects, comprehensive finals and/or other assessments appropriate to the course outline;

* Teaches courses in accordance with the description published in the catalog, the course outline, the syllabus, and the schedule of classes;

* Reports on time and prepared for classes;
Posts and maintains student contact hours;

* Maintains current knowledge of the discipline and teaching practices; and Prepares and submits accurate and timely student reports;

* Maintains clinical competency with current practice and content expertise per the California board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT);

* Prepares and submits accurate and timely student reports.

DEPARTMENT:

* Attends department meetings;

* Secures and properly stores equipment assigned to discipline; conducts a periodic inventory of equipment.

INSTITUTION:

* Reports on time for meetings, is fully prepared, and attends scheduled faculty meetings;

* Attends in-service days and commencement based on availability;

* Completes optional flex hours for professional development purposes.
