Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a Short
- Term, Non-Continuing Student Support Specialist to work in our Student Services Department.

This is a temporary, non-continuing position. This position is open until filled.

Under the general direction of appropriate supervisor, supports the implementation of student success, retention, and equity programs in the assigned area/program, including the delivery of core success and support services and follow-up services; performs support duties requiring expertise in data gathering and reporting, office management, customer relations, or other specialized services; coordinates with faculty, staff, and administrators in programs related to student success and support.

The Student Support Specialist will coordinate and assist with activities and events in alignment with Mendocino College’s Guided Pathways framework, Education Master Plan, and Student Equity Plan.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    This is a Short-Term Non-Continuing (STNC), temporary, hourly position, 32 hours per week, $27.04 per hour;
    Ed Code 88003 authorizes a governing board to hire STNC employees for less than 75% of a school year, up to 180 days.

    Benefits:
    The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee.

    Paid Time Off:
    The successful candidate will earn forty (40) hours of sick leave per fiscal year.

    Retirement:
    This position may be eligible for CalPERS Retirement (contingent upon number of hours worked within the fiscal year)

    The successful candidate will support student and institutional success by executing the following duties:
    • Performs support services for student success and support programs; may support multiple areas/departments; prepares reports and other documents.
    • Supports the implementation of matriculation initiatives (orientation, follow-up support, outreach, etc.) in cooperation with multiple District departments.
    • Assists Director with monitoring retention programs and referral services and coordinates follow up services for students.
    • May monitor budgets and perform purchasing functions under the direction of the supervisor.
    • Maintains statistical records and confidential files for department(s) or area(s).
    • Works with students, staff, faculty, and the public to implement goals and objectives of assigned areas/programs; works with supervisor to resolves issues and recommends solutions related to student success.
    • Assists with the collection and analysis of data for program review and assessment of student learning and service area outcomes. This includes assisting in monitoring student follow-up and academic progress related to student success goals; identify and notify students of progress.
    • May participate in the training and work direction of student and short-term, non continuing (STNC) employees; provides technical direction and guidance.
    • Interprets and implements District policies and procedures related to student equity, success and support programs.
    • May present information and participate in community outreach activities.
    • May maintain area webpages.
    • May serve as a lead worker to other classified staff in the area.
    • Maintains current resources and equipment for student use.
    • Prepares, maintains and distributes a variety of reports, forms, applications, lists, instructional materials, requisitions, schedules, fliers, calendars, manuals, handbooks, announcements, newsletters, handouts and other documents.
    • Attends meetings and conferences.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    PROGRAM DUTIES
    • Assists in coordinating student support to multiple programs and areas, including the Native American Student Resource Center, Dream Center, Basic Needs Center, Pomo Pathway, Behavioral Health, Student Life and Veteran Resource Center; linking students to available resources; helps coordinate student mentors and tutoring support for students at the centers; assists in the operational and planning for the support of student success at the centers.
