Mendocino College is currently accepting applications for part‑time, Temporary Faculty to teach automotive technology.
We seek diverse, equity‑minded candidates who bring new perspectives and experiences to enrich our educational community. The main campus is located in Ukiah, CA; with centers locations in Lakeport, CA;
Willits, CA;
Fort Bragg, CA; and online.
Attention: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement of the Mendocino Part Time Faculty Association;
all unit members must maintain a California mailing address.
If you do not currently reside in or intend to relocate to California should an offer be made; please understand this is a requirement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
APPLICATION PROCEDUREAssignments are made on a part‑time, hourly contract basis. A part‑time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full‑time assignment. Salary is determined by the total contract hours. Hourly contract rate is dependent on qualifications ($69.36 - $96.69). Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the semester.

The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee.
Paid Time Off:
Sick leave is earned based on teaching load percentage.
Retirement:
This position may be eligible for CalSTRS Retirement.
- Instruct the full range of courses offered in discipline applied for;
- Conduct classes and finals as included in the schedule of classes;
- Prepare classroom presentations, student activities, and assignments;
- Teach class hours; evaluate students’ performance based on quizzes, exams, projects, comprehensive finals and/or other assessments appropriate to the course outline;
- Teach courses in accordance with the description published in the catalog, the course outline, and the schedule of classes;
- Prepare a syllabus for each course and distribute it to students at the first class meeting and/or electronically;
- Report on time and prepared for classes; post and maintain student contact hours;
- Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and teaching practices; and prepare and submit accurate and timely student reports;
- Teach and provide hands‑on training in Automotive Technology in our equipped facility;
- Support and motivate student growth, professionalism, and accountability;
- Evaluate and communicate progress with students;
- Teach students about the importance of safety and compliance;
- Prepare students for a successful career in the field of Automotive Technology.
Areas of teaching interest include, but are not limited to teaching: AUT
144 (Manual Transmissions/Transaxles) & AUT
145 (Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles).
Additional classes may include other classes listed in the Mendocino College Catalog.
QUALIFICATIONSMust meet all Minimum Qualifications Requirements for discipline applied for including:
- Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience in Automotive Technology, OR
- Any associate degree and six years of professional experience in Automotive Technology. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment, OR
- The equivalent (details in Minimum Qualifications handbook).
