Position Overview
Short‑Term, Non‑Continuing Instructional Aide – welding classes at Ukiah High School. Temporary position, 3‑5 hours per week, hourly wage $20.71 under § 88003. Position open until filled.
Responsibilities- Provides instructional support to students during class and/or lab time
- Notifies students of additional services on campus such as tutoring and other resources
- Assists faculty with material coordination and/or dispersion
- May assist with data entry
- May assist with setup of classroom materials and exhibits
- May assist students with computer usage or software
- Other duties as assigned
- Support lab instruction for welding courses
- Set and clean up lab areas
- Maintain safety standards and support student learning
Classroom setting with moderate noise, frequent interruptions and social interactions. May lift up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications- Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring, including Live Scan background check and completion of TB test
- Must have sufficient, appropriate subject matter expertise
High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate’s degree preferred.
- Specific curriculum and equipment or tools appropriate to the classroom
- Basic teaching and learning principles, study skills, and customer service skills
- Appropriate language skills including usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary
- Basic arithmetic
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Follow verbal and written directions
- Follow through on assigned tasks
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner
- Abide by District policies and procedures
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Walk and/or stand for intermittent periods
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with students of diverse learning needs
- Maintain accurate records
- Help students identify problems and recommend solutions
May lift up to 25 pounds.
Salary & BenefitsHourly wage: $20.71. Bronze level benefit plan at employee cost. 40 hours of paid sick leave per fiscal year. Eligible for CalPERS Retirement contingent on hours worked.
Conditions of Employment- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States required
- Must be fingerprinted through DOJ and FBI and have background clearance; TB test once hired and every four years thereafter
- Within six months of employment, must complete required District trainings such as Sexual Harassment Prevention
