Mendocino‑Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a Short‑Term, Non‑Continuing Instructional Aide to assist in welding classes at Ukiah High School. This is a temporary, non‑continuing position open until filled.

    Salary & Benefits

    This is a Short‑Term Non‑Continuing (STNC), temporary, hourly position, 3‑5 hours per week, $20.71 per hour. Benefits:
    Bronze level benefit plan at the employee’s cost. Paid time off: 40 hours of sick leave per fiscal year. Retirement:
    May be eligible for CalPERS Retirement (contingent upon number of hours worked).

    Responsibilities
    • Provide instructional support to students during class and/or lab time.
    • Notify students of additional campus services such as tutoring and other resources.
    • Assist faculty with material coordination and/or dispersion.
    • Assist with data entry.
    • Assist with set‑up of classroom materials and exhibits.
    • Assist students with computer usage or software.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Program Duties
    • Support lab instruction for welding courses.
    • Set and clean up lab areas.
    • Maintain safety standards and support student learning.
    Working Conditions

    Classroom setting; subject to moderate noise, frequent interruptions, and social interactions. May lift up to 25 pounds.

    Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring apply, including a live scan background check and completion of a TB test.

    Education

    High School Diploma/GED equivalent required; AA preferred.

    Knowledge
    • Specific curriculum and equipment/tools appropriate to the classroom setting.
    • Basic teaching and learning principles, study skills, and customer service skills.
    • Appropriate language skills including usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary.
    • Basic arithmetic.
    • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
    Ability To
    • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Follow verbal and written directions.
    • Follow through on assigned tasks.
    • Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
    • Abide by District policies and procedures.
    • Lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Walk and/or stand for intermittent periods.
    • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with students of diverse learning needs.
    • Maintain accurate records.
    • Help students identify problems and recommend solutions.
    Physical Ability

    May lift up to 25 pounds.

    Conditions of Employment
    • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
    • Fingerprinting through DOJ and FBI, background clearance, and TB test (once hired and every four years thereafter).
    • Complete required District trainings such as Sexual Harassment Prevention within 6 months of employment.
