Assignment / SalaryAssignments are on a part‑time, hourly contract basis. No assignment may exceed 67% of an annual full‑time assignment. Hourly contract rate ranges from $69.36 to $96.69, dependent on qualifications. Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the semester.

Sick leave is earned based on teaching load percentage.
Retirement:
Position may be eligible for CalSTRS Retirement.
- Instruct full range of courses offered in the discipline.
- Conduct classes and finals per the schedule.
- Prepare classroom presentations, student activities, and assignments.
- Teach class hours and evaluate students via quizzes, exams, projects, and comprehensive finals.
- Teach courses in accordance with catalog descriptions, course outlines, and class schedules.
- Prepare and distribute a syllabus for each course at the first class meeting.
- Report on time and be prepared for classes; post and maintain student contact hours.
- Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and teaching practices; submit accurate and timely student reports.
Areas of teaching interest include: CSC‑158, CSC‑159, CSC‑161, CSC‑164, CSC‑166, and other courses listed in the Mendocino College Catalog.
Qualifications- Master’s in computer science or computer engineering, or a Bachelor’s in either of those plus a Master’s in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting, or engineering.
- Bachelor’s in engineering plus a Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration.
- Bachelor’s in mathematics plus a Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the above fields plus a master’s in information science, computer information systems, or information systems.
- Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
- Any associate degree and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, geographic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Meet Human Resources guidelines, including live scan background check and TB test.
- Knowledge of current theories of computer science, related teaching practices, and familiarity with the community college mission.
- Ability to instruct courses using various techniques and delivery methods; develop curriculum; assess student progress; maintain records; communicate effectively; collaborate with colleagues; teach at variable locations and hours, including evenings, weekends, and online.
