Temporary - Program Specialist - ESL; Centers

Overview

Mendocino-Lake Community District is accepting applications for a Short-Term, Non-Continuing Program Specialist for the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program. Three bilingual ESL program specialists are being hired for Willits/Covelo, Fort Bragg, and Lakeport. This is a temporary, grant-funded position; open until filled.

• Assist with outreach efforts
• Bilingual flyer development
• Distribute flyers to schools, businesses, community partners, etc.
• Provide phone support as needed
• Assist with student registration as needed
• Coordinate ESL registration events with program centers
• Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities and/or programs
• Design and deliver presentations and workshops as required
• Serve as a liaison between Mendocino College and appropriate stakeholders
• Disseminate information about the program
• Coordinate schedules and arrange appointments for stakeholders and program resources
• Participate in department meetings and provide information or reports on relevant issues
• Assist, follow up, and support stakeholders regarding program processes and connect them to other programs and services
• Prepare and maintain correspondence, reports, documents, and forms; maintain records and files; submit required paperwork in a timely manner
• Operate office equipment and Microsoft Office software
• Attend required meetings and professional development sessions as directed by the manager
• Occasionally travel to off-site locations for program needs
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Required:
  
  Bilingual (Spanish/English); can provide bilingual certification or take the bilingual test provided through Mendocino College
• Educational: AA degree required; BA preferred
• Experience:
  
  At least two years of experience in an administrative/educational environment
• Licenses/
  
  Certifications:
  
  Valid Class C driver’s license and acceptable driving record; access to a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement) for travel within Lake and Mendocino Counties
• Compliance:
  Must meet Human Resources guidelines, including Live Scan background check and TB test
• Other:
  Must be able to work in a diverse student population and support student and institutional success

• Hourly position: 10-15 hours per week, not to exceed 15 hours per week
• Wage: $25.68 per hour
• Bilingual stipend: $0.30–$0.50 per hour, contingent on bilingual certification or successful completion of bilingual test

• PTO/Sick leave: 40 hours per fiscal year
• Retirement:
  Potential eligibility for CalPERS retirement (based on hours)
