Part-Time Faculty - Licensed Vocational Nursing Program

Overview

Mendocino College is accepting applications for Part-Time Faculty in the Licensed Vocational Nursing Program. This position reports to the Director of the LVN Program, the Dean of Career Education, and the Assistant Dean of Health Careers.

Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly contract basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed 67% of a full-time annual assignment. Salary is determined by total contract hours. Hourly rate depends on qualifications ($70.64 - $103.39). Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the semester.

The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the employee cost.

Sick leave is earned based on teaching load percentage.

This position may be eligible for CalSTRS retirement.

The successful candidate will support student success by providing instructional support and institutional collaboration. This includes the following duties and assignments:

• Instructs in the Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program
• Educates in varied environments including skills lab, clinical setting, online (Canvas), and/or lecture
• Conducts classes and finals as scheduled
• Prepares classroom presentations, student activities, and assignments
• Teaches class hours; collaborates with the LVN Program Director to evaluate student performance using quizzes, exams, projects, finals, and other assessments
• Teaches course descriptions, outlines, syllabi, and schedules as published in catalog
• Reports on time and prepared for classes; posts and maintains student contact hours
• Maintains current knowledge of the discipline and teaching practices; submits accurate and timely student reports
• Maintains clinical competency per BVNPT
• Prepares and submits accurate and timely student reports

• Attends department meetings
• Secures and stores equipment; conducts periodic inventory

• Reports on time for meetings and attends scheduled faculty meetings
• Attends in-service days and commencements as needed
• Completes optional flex hours for professional development

An instructor shall have or be currently attending a course offered by an approved school in teaching and meet the requirements of Subsection A or B:

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds; must meet HR guidelines including Live Scan and TB test.

Knowledge:
Current nursing theories and teaching practices; familiarity with community college mission.
