About the Role
As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers play a key role in delivering on the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. With guidance from the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager, the Teller's primary responsibility is to ensure banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations. The Teller role also maintains and enhances client relationships through meaningful conversations that uncover client needs and identify opportunities to provide additional bank products and services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Always performing teller transactions and cash handling functions for clients with accuracy and confidentiality. Examples include deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balancing the cash drawer.
- Accuracy in daily tasks that maintain the integrity of the branch, such as double custody for balancing the ATM, processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing credit card machines, and updating lobby rate sheets and brochures.
- Mitigating risk by ensuring safekeeping of money in the cash drawer and prompt accounting or transfer of funds.
- Interacting with external and internal clients, anticipating needs, and consistently providing proactive solutions and problem resolutions in alignment with the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards.
- Continuously deepening knowledge of Columbia Bank's product and service offerings and staying current on changes.
- Discussing and uncovering customers’ financial needs to identify and offer appropriate products and services.
- Supporting referral goals for the branch by focusing on and referring basic bank products to the appropriate business partner.
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- 1 year of previous banking or customer service experience, preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to learn and comply with all Bank policies, procedures, and systems.
- Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with written numbers, words, and verbal and written instructions.
- Consistently demonstrates ability and willingness to build relationships with clients and other bank associates.
The pay range for this role is $18 to $20 per hour. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.
Location607 South State Street, Ukiah, CA 95482. Ability to work fully onsite at the posted location(s).
