Overview
Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a Short-Term, Non-Continuing Computer Support Technician for the Coast Center location in Fort Bragg. This is a temporary, non-continuing position and is open until filled. We are seeking an equity-minded person who is committed to supporting our diverse student population and the District Mission. ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the department manager, the Computer Support Technician will:
- Perform computer support activities; install microcomputers and servers; recommend hardware and software solutions; train users in equipment and software; maintain hardware and software inventory; assist in networking issues; troubleshoot network printer problems; provide instructional computer lab support for faculty and administrative staff; support multimedia equipment, teleconferencing, and smart classrooms.
- Provide ongoing computer support for instructional and/or administrative use; offer telephone and on-site support for students, faculty, departments, and other District personnel; provide computer and software resources for students.
- Learn new software applications quickly; assist in software maintenance; upgrade to new versions; monitor software for viruses as necessary.
- Evaluate, test, and recommend hardware and software packages; research products and vendors for long-term support and dependability; coordinate with vendors for configurations and pricing on new equipment and repair components.
- Train users in the use and care of microcomputer equipment and peripherals; manage inventory; oversee purchase orders from generation to receipt of items; order computer supplies from vendors.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve problems for users of personal computer software and hardware, the District network, Internet, and new computer technology; communicate solutions to end-users.
- Deliver, tag, and set up end-user PC and Macintosh desktop hardware, software, and peripherals; diagnose and resolve end-user network or local printer problems and peripheral/ hardware issues; coordinate repair of equipment under third-party maintenance agreements.
- Assist with network administration related to server operating systems, TCP/IP and Internet technology; assist with telephone and telecommunications issues, satellite and teleconferencing planning as needed.
The primary work location is Fort Bragg, CA, with possible travel to other centers or the Ukiah Campus.
QualificationsRequired:
High School Diploma / GED; experience in Computer Support. AA preferred. Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring, including a Live Scan background check and TB test. Salary is STNC and hourly; 20 hours per week; $28.41 per hour. Ed Code 88003 authorizes hiring STNC employees for less than 75% of a school year, up to 180 days.

SelectionProcedure
