- Provide advanced emergency nursing care to acutely ill or injured patients.
- Perform rapid assessments and triage to prioritize patient needs in the ER.
- Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders and protocols.
- Monitor patient progress and respond to changes with escalating care as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams for patient treatment plans.
- Document all patient information accurately in electronic medical records.
- Lead or participate in rapid response and code events within the ER.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality standards.
- Utilize performance metrics and care pipelines to optimize ER throughput.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional development and pursue certification advancement.
- Current RN license with valid state nursing registration.
- Active emergency department or critical care nursing certification preferred (e.g., ENA, CEN).
- BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS if required for pediatric emergencies.
- Minimum 2 years of ER/acute care nursing with rapid assessment and triage experience.
- Strong clinical assessment skills, monitoring, and escalation of care as patient status changes.
- Proficient in EHR documentation, order entry, and care plan documentation.
- Ability to lead or participate in rapid response and code events with calm decisiveness.
- Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and quality improvement processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration with physicians, teams, and families.
