Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of assigned nursing staff while coordinating care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional judgment, and independent decision-making.

Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.

Analyzes assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and patient care needs.

Develops a plan of care that prescribes interventions to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Implements the plan of care, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

Evaluates patient progress toward attaining expected outcomes.

Identifies expected outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation.

Collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide safe, healing, humane, and compassionate patient care.

Provides learning opportunities for patients, family members, and healthcare team members.

Directly provides health information to patients, families, and the treatment team.

Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.

Delegates responsibilities appropriately and coordinates the duties of healthcare team members.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
