Materials QC Technician II

General Summary

This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a laboratory or field setting to ensure compliance with supplier and/or owner specifications.

• Ensure compliance with supplier and/or owner specifications by collecting and preparing construction material samples.
• Perform quality control testing on at least one construction material in both a laboratory and field setting, or test two construction materials in either a laboratory or field setting.
• Conduct inspections on construction materials such as soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA), and Portland cement concrete (PCC) in laboratory and field settings.
• Train Level I technicians on sampling, testing, and inspection procedures to prepare them for additional certification.
• Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors to ensure quality control standards are satisfied and support process improvements.
• Participate in and promote Granite’s safety procedures, comply with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.

• High school diploma preferred. Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, or inspected required. NICET I certification desired.
• 1–4 years related experience.
• Basic computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
• Team player.
• Willingness to consistently abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct on a daily basis.
