Description
Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for Life Models. By applying, you’ll be added to our pool of candidates and considered for upcoming openings as well as on-call shifts as they come up. This is a temporary, non-continuing position under the general direction of the Art Department Faculty. Life Models support the delivery of curricula by providing students with an opportunity to develop their craft in a professional, controlled environment, helping them increase perceptual and hand skills, deepen their understanding of anatomy and proportion, and connect to artistic histories.

Salary and BenefitsThis is a temporary hourly position. Hours vary per week and the rate is $21.00 per hour. Hours are authorized up to 180 days under Ed Code 88003. The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the employee’s cost. Paid Time Off: 3 days of sick leave per year. Retirement:

- Pose for art studio classes: figure drawing, portrait painting.
- Provide a full range of traditional life drawing poses, from gestures to sustained poses, as required by the instructor.
- Demonstrate the flexibility and animation of the human form.
- Provide traditional gestures and poses, as well as anatomical studies.
- Model poses include nude, costume, and street clothing.
- Maintain punctuality and flexibility in meeting scheduling demands.
Classroom environment; subject to flexible hours; working with the public. Physical demands include posing, sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and walking. Clothing attire is based on class type:
Portrait or Life.
- Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring, including a Live Scan background check and completion of TB test.
- Previous experience as a model in a classroom environment, dance, movement, or theater, is helpful.
- Knowledge of how the model demonstrates anatomy, gesture, and content in a visual composition.
- Awareness of classic and traditional poses in the art tradition.
- Physically able to provide a full range of body gestures and poses, from quick gestures to long, sustained poses.
- Able to re-establish posed positions for long-term modeling sessions.
- Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Fingerprint through DOJ and FBI and have background clearance.
- Take a TB test once hired and every four years thereafter.
- Within 6 months of employment, complete required District trainings such as Sexual Harassment Prevention.
