American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a KS or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience.
Details- Acute care Emergency Room unit with 6 beds/trauma bays
- No designated trauma level, STEMI receiving, or stroke center designation
- Treats approximately 8 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- No Fast Track or separate triage area
- ER holds are intermixed within the ER, no separate psych/seclusion rooms
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
- Common drips include cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, and sedation/analgesia medications
- RNs read their own telemetry strips using GE monitors
- RNs administer breathing treatments and EKGs after hours; RT handles all ABGs
- RT equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPap, and high flow devices
- No onsite X-ray or CT in the ER
- RNs draw their own labs
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Night shift schedule with self-scheduling and block scheduling options
- Weekend requirement of a minimum of six shifts per six-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required
- Call or standby requirements determined by nurse manager
- Floating within Zone 4 (Bob Wilson, SCD, SCG) may be required in cases of extreme need
- Charge nurse takes patient assignments
- Unit staffed with 2 RNs 24/7, no nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, or patient sitters
- Active KS or Compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA for BLS/ACLS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- ED experience required
- NRP experience specifically required
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Unit/department-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
- Clinicians must be in-state for the orientation week, even if initial modules are remote
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and Dignity) within the past year, though PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
- Travelers hired into this zone are expected to float within the assigned float zone and are responsible for securing housing that accommodates this requirement
