Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. The Generation Service Technician is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing and providing quality repairs of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures, and for maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
PDX is an AWS Gov Cloud region; as required by our contracts with the federal government, effective February 24, 2026, logical access to the AWS Gov Cloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. (Gov Cloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States).
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and vendor management as part of daily duties.
- Know and follow all Company safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and fully participate in company accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
- Respond to customer requests.
- Travel to designated sites and perform professional quality field service repairs consistent with company standards.
- Advise the Generator Service Manager of parts needed for necessary repairs.
- Keep the Generator Service Manager continually apprised and utilize leadership to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary.
- Document detailed, complete, and legible descriptions of all repair operations performed.
- Accurately record time, expenses, and mileage.
- Travel 80‑90% of the time in an assigned region, and/or work overtime, weekends, or holidays, sometimes on short notice.
- Lift up to 40 lbs frequently; pushing and pulling a maximum force of 40 lbs.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including Protective Glasses, Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required.
- Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience, or 1+ years of data center or mission‑critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
