Overview
The Cx Owners Rep is responsible for supporting vendors, contractors and other teams involved in the retro commissioning of various systems in operational data centers, including medium and low voltage power systems, generators, UPS, HVAC air handlers/exhaust fans/VFD, chilled water systems, building management systems (BMS), electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), testing and balancing, pumps and hydronic systems.
Responsibilities- Provide testing and validation oversight of client data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure in existing operational facilities.
- Review as-built documents and equipment submittals; manage third-party commissioning vendors during onsite functional and integrated systems testing.
- Own project outcomes by deeply investigating issues and addressing schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite.
- Share lessons learned to promote team growth and program improvements.
- Provide multi-discipline input into scheduling, test script development, and design/planning of retro commissioning projects.
- Continuously audit commissioning vendors’ activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements while minimizing impact to operations.
- Report retro commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager following the Client project reporting format.
- Lead multiple projects simultaneously to achieve key milestones and deliver optimized data center performance while managing project budget as approved by Finance.
- 5 years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline work experience.
- High technical competency in either mechanical, electrical, or control systems used in critical infrastructures, with the ability to learn others.
- Ability to understand design concepts by reviewing mechanical or electrical design documentation including drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and sequences of operations; provide feedback according to standards for basis of design.
- Develop or review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts, and reports developed by vendors to ensure accuracy against design requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); advanced knowledge of SharePoint or similar tools preferred.
- Strong communication skills, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high-stress environments with respectful interaction across multiple teams.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures.
- Ability to read and edit construction documents, design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.
- Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals.
- Knowledge and experience in a high-scale, enterprise-level data center environment.
- Experience with scheduling, testing, and commissioning for retro-commissioning projects.
