Role SummaryThe Data Center Technician position involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and participation in an on‑call rotation. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring customers have continual access to the innovations they rely on.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.

A lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for the position.
Physical Requirements- Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds each
- Working in cramped and/or elevated locations
- Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
- Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
- Work in an industrial environment
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts)
- The role may be assigned to a facility still under development, requiring travel to established locations for training until the site becomes fully operational.
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility
- Candidates must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required by business needs
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, and carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to overall availability of AWS services
- Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
- Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution
- Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem‑solving
- Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting
- Act without waiting for direction or support
- Improve effectiveness through process innovation
You will be required to work shift work that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Basic Qualifications- Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
- 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience
- 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair)
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT‑related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering)
- Certification in a relevant field (CCENT, Network+, or CCNA)
- Experience working with Linux operating systems
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience
- Experience training and onboarding new team members
