Network Install Technician

Job Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure – supporting all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.

• Moving and implementing large enterprise equipment.
• Installing fiber and copper cabling and patching cabling between equipment.
• Ensuring proper safety and security standards during cabling and rack installation.
• Following well‑established hardware installation procedures and performing break‑fix activities.
• Safely using material handling tools and equipment.
• Traveling within and outside the regional work area as required.

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
• Work in a 24/7 environment with primary responder rotation and after‑hours support.
• Operate in cramped, elevated, or noisy environments.
• Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
• Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely without limitation.

• Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
• Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
• Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility.
• Candidate must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required.

• Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers.
• 18+ months of experience in a data center or similar critical environment (e.g., computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, data center operations).
• 18+ months of experience with network cabling, optic types, and test equipment (VFL, power meter, OTDR, etc.).

• Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field (e.g., computer science, network engineering).
• Certifications in a relevant field (CCENT, Network+, CCNA).
• Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
• Ability to work on a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.

Hourly rate ranges from $30.00 to $54.00 USD, depending on location. Salary includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSU). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
