OverviewAmazon Web Services is seeking a Network & Cable Decommissioning Manager in the Oregon region. As a manager, you will lead and grow a team of engineers to design and execute decommissioning of fiber optic and copper cabling, ensuring new capacity while minimizing interruption.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and develop a team of NW/Cable Decommissioning engineers and technicians.
- Ensure non-impactful and timely removal of existing fiber optic and copper in plant areas.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define plans and processes to achieve required capacity and network requirements via decommissioning efforts.
- Partner with peer leaders within the ISP organization to standardize and maintain internal cabling throughout the data center environments.
- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues; lead high‑profile projects to enable new capacity and services.
- Support New Product Introduction activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
- Travel 20% or more to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers.
- Associate's degree or higher.
- 5+ years of engineering work managing large‑scale services.
- Experience working with KPIs and SLAs.
- Experience operating a mission‑critical team or product.
- 5+ years of work in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.
- 5+ years of work in data centers with emphasis on building and equipment operation experience.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data center operations (feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, AHUs, CRAC).
- 4+ years of work in data centers with emphasis on building and equipment operation experience.
Base salary range: $ – $ annually (USD).
