Data Center Operations Technician, DCC Communities

We support all AWS data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep our customers continuously connected to the services they rely on.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and component troubleshooting.
- Conduct network diagnostics and respond to operational incidents affecting service availability.
- Carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating‑system repairs to maintain overall availability.
- Serve as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in on‑call duties and scheduled maintenance and change‑management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process‑improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
- Travel to and work across multiple data‑center locations as required.
Physical requirements:
- Lift and move up to 40 lbs, work in cramped or elevated locations, bend, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours.
- Operate ladders, stairs, gangways safely; work shifts longer than 8 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work in an industrial environment; attend frequent travel, including distances over 50 miles during training.
Basic qualifications:
- 1+ years of computer‑networking experience.
- 1+ years of Linux operating‑system experience.
- Computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 18+ months of computer/server‑hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
- 18+ months of layer 1/2 networking experience.
- Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or a related field (preferred).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a data‑center environment—racking, stacking gear, cable management, hot‑cold aisle containment.
- Experience with cabling‑infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
- Industry certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
- Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
- Experience training and onboarding of new team members.
- Can work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while following health & safety guidelines.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
