Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next‑generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scale support of several data center locations and day‑to‑day assistance with capacity management.
  • Work autonomously, maintain detail orientation, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Support large‑scale, enterprise‑class networks; demonstrate network implementation and troubleshooting skills and a proven documentation methodology.
  • Operate in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with regular peer and customer interaction.
  • Provide management and support of Amazon Web Services vast network infrastructure, establish best practices, and refine operational procedures.
  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Network Engineering and Network Technical Project Manager teams for rollout of designs and products.
  • Travel up to 20% within geographic work area; additional travel may be required.
  • Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.
  • Engage customers during problem resolution, operating efficiently under pressure and managing time effectively.
  • Physical requirements:

    sit in front of a computer for an entire 8‑hour shift with appropriate breaks, lift or move up to 40 pounds, participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or more, walk uneven terrain, and work safely at heights and from ladders.
Detailed Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning & Design Management – contribute to 6‑8 month network implementation roadmaps aligned with AWS DC expansion targets.
  • Create and optimize network position layouts and rack placement strategies for data‑centre floor space utilization.
  • Review and contribute to High‑Level Design (HLD) documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to validate technical requirements and design specifications.
  • Develop capacity‑planning models to ensure infrastructure scalability.
  • Create standardized planning templates and methodologies for network implementations.
  • Project & Resource Management – lead end‑to‑end project planning for multiple concurrent network implementation initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Manage project scope and quality parameters; conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Improvise and optimize planning by incorporating lessons learned from latest deployed projects iteratively.
  • Coordinate across cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment on project deliverables.
  • Track and report weekly project progress to key stakeholders.
  • Supply Chain & Inventory Planning – develop project inventory forecasts and requirements, optimizing counts using prior surplus spares.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams for strategic resource acquisition, manage vendor relationships and delivery schedules.
  • Establish and stick to procurement timelines aligned with project schedules.
  • Program Governance & Process Excellence – establish and maintain project management frameworks and best practices, develop sustainable and repeatable planning processes.
  • Create and maintain project documentation and reporting standards; drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning methodologies.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder communication channels; coordinate with regional teams for standardized planning approaches and optimized lesson‑learnt based iterative planning.
Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ year of computer networking experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in computer networking.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
