This role is hands-on and field-based, requiring a detail-oriented professional who can accurately assess system performance, identify deficiencies, and communicate clear recommendations to clients. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently while maintaining a high standard of quality, safety, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections and functional testing of fire protection systems, including fire alarm systems
- Conduct testing, compliance checks, and acceptance testing in accordance with applicable standards
- Document inspection results, deficiencies, and repairs following NFPA guidelines and internal protocols
- Generate accurate, detailed inspection reports using company-provided tools
- Identify system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance
- Communicate findings and next steps clearly with clients and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes, including NFPA 72
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in proper working condition
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols on job sites
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred
- Experience in fire system inspection, testing, or a related field preferred
- Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- NICET Level I or II certification (Inspection & Testing of Fire Alarm Systems and/or Water-Based Systems)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- State-specific fire alarm or sprinkler licenses (where applicable)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods
- Consistent, accurate inspections with clean documentation
- Strong awareness of compliance and safety standards
- Clear, professional communication with clients
- Ability to operate independently while staying aligned with team expectations
