Development Inspector

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct on-site inspections of land development and building projects and permits, including grading, clearing, paving, drainage, and storm water management.
• Ensure compliance with approved permits, construction plans, and environmental regulations.
• Review and interpret land development plans, site plans, construction plans, and permits before conducting inspections.
• Enforce erosion and sedimentation control codes, ensuring BMP’s are adhered to, and issuing citations and corrective actions as needed.
• Investigate complaints and recommend solutions for violations or environmental concerns.
• Collaborate with city departments, contractors, developers, and regulatory agencies.
• Represent the City in meetings, hearings, and community discussions related to land development.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Notifies responsible contractor, subcontractors engineers, architects, or homeowners of code violations, discusses corrective options; issues citations; makes recommendation for stop work orders if necessary; documents finding and recommended solutions.
• Administer maintenance and performance Post Development /Stormwater bonds for site development; calculates amount of performance bond(s) as required for each project; maintains bond documents; inspects complete work; and return bonds that meets standards.
• Inspects and approves construction and installation of streets, street striping, curb, gutter, sidewalk, storm drains, and sanitary sewers as assigned.
• Maintain accurate reports, documentation, and records of regulatory enforcement.
